Orbit vs CHANI: A Human-Led Guide vs a Chart-Comparison App

By the Orbit team · · 3 min read

CHANI and Orbit are different kinds of app. CHANI is a human-led astrology guide, with horoscopes, forecasts, rituals and audio from an astrologer's team; Orbit is a tool for comparing two birth charts and asking follow-up questions of an AI astrologer. They are less direct competitors than they first look.

We make Orbit, so we have tried to describe CHANI fairly from its public information. Orbit's iPhone app is not on the App Store yet; the reading is available on the web.

Where CHANI is strong

CHANI is built around a human voice and a reflective practice. Its free tier offers daily horoscopes and a basic chart overview, and its paid tier adds deeper chart readings, weekly content and audio. If you want astrology as a regular, thoughtful ritual from a person with a distinct point of view, that is a real strength and an AI cannot replace it.

Where Orbit is different

Two charts, not one. Orbit is designed for the question "how do I fit with this person?" It calculates planet positions from the exact birth minute and place and explains the angles between two charts, as covered in Synastry Explained.

Interactive. The AI astrologer answers questions about your chart and the current sky, which suits people who prefer asking to reading.

Quick invites. A link lets another person add their own birth details.

Who should choose which

What to check before you pick any astrology app

Whichever app you try, these questions matter more than the marketing:

  1. What happens after the free tier? Note what is locked, how often it renews, and what the weekly, monthly and yearly options really cost.
  2. How do you cancel? Subscriptions bought through Apple are managed in your Apple ID settings; cancel before the renewal date if you do not want to continue.
  3. Who writes the interpretation? A human astrologer, a template or an AI. Each has strengths; none is a prediction.
  4. How is your birth data handled? Look for a clear privacy policy. Orbit's is on the privacy page.
  5. Does it explain its method? Good apps show you the planets and angles behind a result so you can check them. Our method is on the about page.

If you are comparing CHANI with Orbit specifically, trying each one's free features with the same two birth charts is the quickest fair test.

Price and terms

CHANI is free to download with paid tiers. Check its App Store listing for current prices; Orbit's plans are on the pricing page.

A fair note

Astrology is a tool for reflection and is not scientifically validated as a predictor of events or relationship outcomes, whether the interpretation comes from a person or an AI.
